Last summer we visited for the first time the Danish capital with just one objective: discover why people say it’s the happiest city in the world. After a couple of days, we knew the reason why. Good environment, healthy food, simple plans, be surrounded by cool design, enjoy a glass of wine by candlelights, smiles…
how could we transmit all of this in just one word? In english we don’t actually have a word for this, but here, they call it hygge.
To be fair, if you want to understand it, you have to feel it so… we made a 24 hours Copenhagen guide. Enjoy it!
Alexandra Hotel was our house during our trip. The best thing to wake up happy and in a good mood is sleep in a place that inspires you, and we can say that those hotel rooms were full of danish design and art everywhere.
Let’s start by the most touristic places, but breakfast first, please. Atelier September is one of our favorite places: good coffee, delicious food and a little shop full of ceramic pieces, furniture and magazines that will help you to understand that hygge spirit.
After our daily caffeine dose, we are more than ready to visit famous spots of the city: Botanic Garden is always a good option, Rundetarn, an astronomic observatory where you can enjoy a beautiful city views, or Nyhavn, one of the most busy places of the city with it’s canals and colorful houses. You heard about it, didn’t you? So, after visit all these places, is such a good idea go to a place to recharge energy, and this place is called Apollo Bar, next to Nyhavn.

At Nørrebro you will find some of the “must” places to visit in Copenhagen. Superliken park is one of them. Perfect mix of art and architecture, I guarantee you will be a long time taking pictures here! After this you can go for a walk and relax at Assistens Cementery while you think about the next plan to do. Maybe Acne Archive shopping or maybe just enjoying your passion for granola in Grød.
If you think about a place with good vibes, this is definitely your area. There are places with kind of magical air, like Central Hotel Café or shops as Playtype, we recommend this specially to stationery lovers. But if we talk about eat and drink… this area is just what you are looking for. A glass of wine in Granola, a pizza in Neighbourhood or a coffee in Prolog are just a few options. Design, good vibes, food, cheers and happiness. Hygge, we are in!

Este verano visitamos por primera vez la capital danesa con un objetivo: descubrir por qué la llaman la ciudad más feliz del mundo. Después de varios días en Copenhague, lo descubrimos. Buen ambiente, comida sana, planes sencillos, estar rodeado de buen diseño, disfrutar de una copa de vino a la luz de las velas, las sonrisas…
¿Cómo traduciriamos todo eso en una sola palabra? En español no existe, pero ellos lo llaman hygge.

El Hotel Alexandra fue nuestra casa durante nuestra estancia en la ciudad. Lo mejor para levantarse feliz es dormir en un sitio que te inspire y las habitaciones del hotel están llenas de diseño danés y arte por todas partes.
Empecemos por lo más turístico pero antes, un buen desayuno. Atelier September es uno de nuestros favoritos: buen café, comida deliciosa y una pequeña tienda llena de piezas de cerámica, muebles y revistas que te ayudarán a entender mejor el espíritu hygge.
Después de la dosis de cafeína diaria toca visitar alguno de los spot más míticos de la ciudad: el Jardín Botánico, que siempre es una buena opción, el Rundetarn, un observatorio astronómico que te regala una vista panorámica de la ciudad increíble, o Nyhavn, una de las zonas más concurridas de la ciudad con sus canales y casas de colores. ¿Te suena, verdad? Después de visitar tantos sitios una buena opción para reponer fuerzas es Apollo Bar junto a Nyhavn.

El parque Superliken es uno de ellos, una mezcla de arte y arquitectura que te tendrá atrapado haciendo fotos bastante rato. Después puedes pasear tranquilamente por el Assistens Cemetery mientras piensas en el siguiente plan, ya sea ir de compras a Acne Archives o desarrollar tu fanatismo por la granola en Grød.
Si buscas un sitio con buen ambiente este es tu barrio. Hay rincones con mucho encanto, como el Central Hotel of Café o tiendas como Playtype recomendada especialmente para todos los amantes de la papelería. Y si hablamos de comer y beber… esta es la zona que estabas buscando. Una copa de vino en Granola, una pizza en Neighbourhood o un café en Prolog son solo algunas de las opciones. Diseño, buen ambiente, comida, un brindis y felicidad. Nos apuntamos al hygge.
