On this day we woke up super early but it was totally worth it. We left our hotel at 6AM and after coming across lots of kids in their school uniforms we got the train to Inari to see one of Kyoto’s most special spots: the Fushimi Inari-Taisha.
It is one of Kyoto’s most popular sites, it’s open 24 hours and it’s free. We arrived at 7AM on the dot because we wanted to see it when it was really empty and enjoy a nice leisurely walk around its more than 4 kilometres.
The walk is long (and cold if you go in January) but it’s definitely one that you will not forget. There a lot of shops and tea houses which will make the walk much more bearable.
On the way back we had lunch at a restaurant that we found as we left the sanctuary and the food was absolutely delicious. Here is the video that we filmed in Kyoto if you want to see more, it’s one of our favourites to date!
