Imagine that winter sets in your city. The temperature is decreasing, the days are becoming increasingly shorter and you have to start wearing endless layers to go outside. Imagine also that you have a lot of IHG Rewards Club points which will enable you to design your perfect holiday.
That is what happened to us a few months ago when we decided, for the first time in our life, to ring in the month of December in shorts and with an iced-tea in hand. We have travelled a lot but we had never been to Asia, so Thailand seemed like the perfect place for our first trip to the continent and it has inadvertently taken a little spot in our hearts.
After a 17 hour flight, having stopped over in Dubai with Emirates we arrived in Bangkok. We were absolutely exhausted from the trip and had not organized a thing so we decided to get an Uber from the airport. It is very easy to get a sim card there, but there was such a long queue that we opted to find somewhere with wifi instead.
Bangkok was our base but we travelled to a lot of different areas in the country. We spent the first few and last days at the incredible Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road, using our IHG Rewards Club points. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff with the biggest of smiles and an iced Thai tea, which we loved from the first moment and could not get enough of during our stay.
The hotel was located in Wireless Road and boasted breathtaking views of the city centre, so when we arrived at our room and we saw the view we had to take a moment to take it all in. We could see the city’s buildings even from our bath tub and it was interesting to appreciate how the hotel design reflects the neighborhood where it was located.
Whenever we opened the door to the terrace we could hear the city’s ongoing buzzing noise and felt incredibly happy to be there. We did, however, manage to relax in the room because despite being in the hub of the noisy city, we were 17 floors up.
Although we were not planning to use the pool as we just wanted to explore, the hotel had an infinity pool a few floors up and we had to take a dip on our first day at sunset. It was amazing to be able to swim so high up and take in those amazing views. It was our way of energizing for what would become a long trip.
Hope you enjoy our pictures as much as we had fun taking them. The food, the people, the beach… There is much more to come!
